I decided to write this after a fued with a co-worker who argued that one of the reasons she would be attending the protest against the Muslim Community Center near Ground Zero was because " They wouldnt let us go over there and build our churches".

So I thought it was pretty important to educate the ignorant in this Country and others who think this way. Far from what many think, Afghanistan and Iraq are not the only Muslim majority Countries. In fact, there are 47 Countries around the world that practice Islam as their major faith. I am going to give you information about every one of these countries and their "tolerance" for Christians.

TURKEY

98 percent of the population are Muslims, Christians are obviously a minority religion in Turkey. Because it is a secular country, the only Muslim country in the world that has no state religion, the Constitution guarantees religious freedom, and tolerance is the rule. The population includes members of the Armenian Apostolic and Greek Orthodox churches, Roman and Eastern Catholics, and Jews. Today, approximately 120,000 Christians and 26,000 Jews live in Turkey, out of 73 million of the total population.

PAKISTAN

Christians
are the second largest religious minority community in Pakistan after Hindus. The total number of Christians in Pakistan is approximately 2,800,000 in 2008, or 1.6% of the population. Of these, approximately half are Roman Catholic and half Protestant.


NIGERIA

50% of the population of Nigeria is Muslim, Christians make up 48.2% of the population.


EGYPT


Christians make out around 10-20% of a population of over 80 million Egyptians


BANGLADESH

Christians account for approximately 0.3% of the total population.

MALAYSIA

9.1% The major Christian denominations in Malaysia include the Anglicans, Baptists, Brethrens, non-denominational churches, independent Charismatic churches, Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterian and Roman Catholics
